Why Films are made

Why films where made?

Deadpool

Deadpool is a Marvel film which was distributed by 20th Century Fox. Before Deadpool was a film, it was a Marvel comic created in 1991. Artisan Entertainment announced a deal with Marvel Entertainment in May 2000 to co-produce, finance, and distribute several films based on Marvel Comics characters, including Deadpool. By March 2005, Fox had expressed interested in a film featuring Deadpool, and the character was set to make a cameo appearance in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with Ryan Reynolds cast. His role was expanded during the production of that film. Katz was an executive at Fox by that point, and said that Deadpool was "nicely set up to be explored in his own way" in a future film. Deadpool was very popular and therefore Marvel decided finally to start production and released the film in 2016.  At the beginning of the Deadpool trailer, it brings up the Marvel logo, this is the reason the film was made as the film is based on the famous comic books. A thing I noticed about the film is that the trailer was released almost a year before the film was released, they did this because the film was so anticipated.

Dark Knight

Like Deadpool, Dark Knight is based on the original Batman comics created by DC Comics. However, unlike Deadpool, there had been over 10+ Batman films consisting of cartoons and live action films. This meant that before Dark Knight was released, there was already a strong fan base from all the previous films and comics. This meant that the film was released as the distributors at Warner Brothers knew that the film would be a success because of it being so well known. All throughout the trailer, there are famous people shown through it , however the film was not made because of the famous people but was created because Batman is one of the most famous characters from DC comics, so Warner Bros. knew that the reception the film would get would be huge. This trailer was released after many, many teasers and there was a lot of anticipation just for the trailer alone, which meant that they did not have to show why the film was being created as they already had an audience.

The Big Sick

The reason the Big Sick was made was because the main character was already a famous comedian in the US, which meant that would create appeal, as it is a familiar face. The film was written and created by the main character and it is based on his life, so therefore it was created to tell a story versus making money. The film also has a very important moral to its story so it may have also been made to bring awareness to this. In the trailer, it immediately mentions the plot of the film which is based on multi-cultural marriage and traditional values. They also brought up the names of the cast whom some are famous, which although is not the reason the film was made, it helps gather an audience. At the very beginning of the trailer it says how it is a true story, which is the purpose as to why the film was made, to tell a story.
